Development Director

JOB OPENING: DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR (fulltime) Reports to Executive Director


Design, execute and analyze Development Strategies:

  • Develop and execute the annual fundraising plan with a specific goals, including continuation of successful programs and exploration of  new programs and ideas that engage supporters and donors
  • With Executive Director and Board, develop and maintain donor relationships, including solicitation of gifts
  • Create and oversee fundraising calendar and integrated strategy of contacts for the year, including letters, e-mails, KIAC events, community fundraising vehicles, and KIAC social media, with a goal of engaging supporters and donors
  • Oversee stewardship and acknowledgement of donors and supporters, including receipts, thank-you letters, community acknowledgements
  • Responsible for KIAC’s successful participation in  community fundraising events, such as The Great Give, One Call for All, and others
  • Oversee grants including proposal writing; research of new grants; tracking, and filing timely reports for Family Services, Legal Services and the overall organization
  • Oversee preparation of fundraising materials, including annual letters, case statements, direct mail, Annual report, social media
  • Prepare and oversee development budget and monitor expenses

Design, execute and manage Development Activities:

  • Annual auction/dinner event, including organizing the event, overseeing volunteer committee, procurement, night-of responsibilities; follow-up
  • Responsible for House parties and other existing fundraising events, such as Bremerton Community Theater event, including volunteer recruitment and oversight
  • Creation and execution of new events to engage supporters and the community
  • Identify and research prospective donors

Manage Development Systems and Software

  • Manage systems and software to track, cultivate, and thanks donors  
  • Analysis of program performance including annual giving programs, donor acquisition, retention and upgrade effectiveness; success of events and community fundraising vehicles
  • Monthly fundraising reports to the board and reports to ED as requested


  • B.A. or life experience
  • Commitment to KIAC’s mission and work
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • 3-plus years’ experience in nonprofit development work with proven track record of raising money
  • Enthusiastic leader capable of managing diverse teams to reach a common goal
  • Self-starter; able to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of office and fundraising software
  • Social media skills a plus
  • Spanish-speaking a plus

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range $45,000-$55,000/ annual, commensurate with experience
